WBFO News photo by Eileen Buckley

Republican incumbent Mark Grisanti won re-election Tuesday night over his three challengers, doing his part to help maintain the GOP's slim majority in the New York State Senate.

With 89% of the vote in, Grisanti has earned 50% of the vote to Democrat Michael Amodeo's 36%,

Conservative Charles Swanick's 12% and the Working Families Party's Gregory Davis, who won 3%.

Grisanti was a key Republican vote in the passage of New York's same-sex marriage law in 2011.  He won re-election in a heavily Democratic district that includes the City of Buffalo, Tonawanda, Grand Island and Niagara Falls.
