Early voting kicked off this weekend in New York. In Orleans County, nearly 700 cast their ballots. That’s a drastic increase from a year ago where the opening weekend for early voting drew 58 total voters. In all, Orleans County saw 374 early voters over the course of nine days in 2019. Orleans Hub Journalist and Editor Tom Rivers tells WBFO the presidential election is a big factor for the large turnout, but it isn’t the only one.
One of the biggest issues voters in Albion and Medina face, according to Rivers, are budget cuts to local municipalities.
