Boat crash leaves 1 man dead, 2 women injured

Police in Niagara County say a 40-year-old man died after a boat struck a metal beam in a creek.

Jason Stubla fell out of the boat Saturday morning after it struck a metal support beam to a covered boat launch in Tonawanda Creek. The boat then veered across the creek and ended up on an embankment.

Two women injured in the crash were able to exit the damaged boat. Stubla was recovered from the water by emergency responders and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both unidentified women were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The sheriff's office says the investigation is continuing.
