Some 25,000 parents, teachers, students and other stakeholders in area schools responded to a survey on local district websites this month about reopening schools in September. Erie County schools have been closed since March 16th because of coronavirus. Hamburg Schools Superintendent Michael Cornell is incoming president of the Erie and Niagara Counties School Superintendents Association. He says a majority of respondents, many of them parents, would be confident in sending their children back to school.
But 15 percent said they were either not confident of letting their children return or would actually keep them home.
Cornell said the results of the survey will be shared with Governor Cuomo and state education officials.
