State has first confirmed coronavirus-related death

New York State has had its first coronavirus-related death, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced this morning.

The individual was an 82-year-old New York City woman who had an underlying medical condition of emphysema. She died on Friday.

New York State is up to 524 confirmed cases of coronavirus, Cuomo said. But that number is expected to rise as the state's testing capacity increases.

There are no confirmed cases of the disease here in Erie County. However, officials in Monroe County announced late last night that a second positive test was registered near Rochester.

It marks the second confirmed case of coronavirus in Monroe County.
