John Yurtchuk, the chairman of Cheektowaga based Calspan Corporation, has been appointed to the board of the National Trust for the Humanities. The trust supports the NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities). Yurtchuk succeeds board member Cokie Roberts, the late journalist and NPR political commentator, who died in September.
"I'm honored to be in the shoes of, not necessarily filling them exactly as she had them on the board, but obviously respected Cokie Roberts and her work on - used to see her on PBS and everything - so that's great for me to be part of that," Yurtchuk said.
The NEH promotes research, education, preservation and public programs in the humanities. Yurtchuk also serves local organizations. He is chair of Daemen College's Board of Trustees, chair of the board for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and is chair-elect/vice chair of the American Red Cross Greater Buffalo Branch.
