Teen wanted for questioning in fatal Allegany County fire taken into custody

Cuba Police Department Facebook page

Authorities have located a 17-year-old from the Allegany County town of Clarksville who was wanted for questioning in a fatal fire investigation.

Police in the nearby town of Cuba said William Larson Jr. was at the scene as a fire on Courtney Hollow Road was being extinguished early Thursday morning. Police say he left the location before state police arrived. The fire killed two people.

Early Thursday, police asked anyone who may locate Larson to not approach him and to call 911. Late in the day, state police announced he had been taken into custody.

"If you must go about your business please do so with extra caution. If you feel that there is someone at your door or on your property who doesn’t belong there do not answer or let them in call 911 immediately," read a notice on the Cuba Police Department's Facebook page.

Cuba residents were asked to shelter in place and not answer their doors. Cuba-Rushford Central School closed for the day.
