In her infinite wisdom, Mother Nature blessed us with a winter storm in early November. Between 8 to 10 inches fell in the Buffalo metro area Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.
Speaking at City Hal, Public Works Commissioner Michael Finn said snow plow crews were out in full force throughout the storm, clearing up main and secondary streets. He says the next phase is to clear up side streets.
“One important reminder for city residents is to follow alternate parking regulations,” Finn said. “It’s critical for our operations.”
Calling the city’s response to the storm “business as usual,” Finn said motorists should expect another slow commute tomorrow morning as well but credits the preparedness of plow and salt truck crews who worked through the storm.
Offering advice to pedestrians, Finn said walking in the street is very dangerous and sidewalks need to be taken care of.
“For our residents and business owners,” he said. “It’s very important that they get out and clear their sidewalks as quickly as possible.”
Finn said cyclists should be putting winter-ready tires on their bicycles and ride slower than usual on city streets.
