The combination of high temperatures and humidity have led to an Excessive Heat Warning being issued for Western New York until 6 PM today. The heat index is expected to reach near 100 degrees, and such conditions can be hazardous. Authorities encourage people to stay out of the sun, limit strenuous activities, seek cool places, drink plenty of fluids and check on family, friends and neighbors. Cooling Centers for Buffalo residents will be open both today and tomorrow at the Delevan-Grider Community Center, the Gloria J. Parks Community Center and the William-Emslie YMCA Senior Center.
Times will vary by location and day. More information can be found at buffalony-dot-gov.
