The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of the upper Niagara River due to an ice jam. The Niagara River Control Center reported sighting the ice jam near the North Grand Island Bridge. The water level has begun to rise, but at this time, it remains below flood level.
Susceptible areas are identified as the Grand Island shoreline, Cayuga Island in Niagara Falls, and the shoreline between North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls.
The Flood Watch remains in effect until Sunday at around 6 a.m.
