Cascades of Fire planners hope weather holds for weekend finale

Winter Festival of Lights (wfol.com)

The organizers of Niagara Falls, Ontario's Winter Festival of Lights are hoping the weather will be much more cooperative Friday and Saturday evenings, when the final two nations taking part in the in the Cascades of Fire international fireworks competition are scheduled to launch their displays. Parks officials on this side of the border, meanwhile, say the view is good from Goat Island in Niagara Falls State Park.

High winds led officials to cancel three scheduled fireworks displays last weekend, by Italy, Vietnam and hosts Canada. Finland is scheduled to launch its display Friday evening, November 16 at 9 p.m. while Brazil sets off its fireworks Saturday evening at the same hour.

Angela Berti of New York State Parks in Western New York chatted with WBFO about viewing the fireworks from the US side of Niagara Falls and also discussed upcoming holiday season events happening on this side of the border.
