Two Buffalo Zoo's animals are being shipped to other zoos in the United States.
Delilah, a four-year-old female giant anteater, is going to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI, while Nico, a one-year-old ocelot, will be moving to the Hutchinson Zoo in Hutchinson, KS.
The two moves are part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan, designed to help ensure the survival of selected species in captivity that might be threatened of endangered.
Delilah came to Buffalo in 2015 from the Palm Beach Zoo in West Palm Beach, FL. Nico was born at the Buffalo Zoo on November 17, 2016.
The Buffalo Zoo hopes to obtain another female giant anteater as a partner to its male, Kaji. Also, Nico's parents, Ayla and Pedro, have been successful as an ocelot breeding pair at the Buffalo Zoo.
