The Old Red Mill gets a new lease on life

A popular East Aurora establishment known for its chicken wings and beef on weck is expanding in the Northtowns.

After decades on Main Street in East Aurora, The Bar-Bill is opening a new location in the former Old Red Mill restaurant, on Main Street, in Clarence. Owner Clark Crook says the iconic Old Red Mill fits The Bar-Bill's brand.

"The folks that know and love The Bar-Bill today, it's located in a historic 200 year old building in East Aurora, and it seems fitting that any other location similarly be located in a historic facility," Crook said.

The Old Red Mill's been closed for more than two years and before it reopens, Crook says, his goal is to restore the site.

"The out-buildings are in total disrepair and the core structure, the historic structure, the brick and stone, is in really good shape. But it definitely needs some love," Crook said.

Crook says getting the restaurant up and running will be a long process. And so far there's no timetable for a grand opening of The Bar-Bill in Clarence.
