Buffalo Police are continuing to investigate a fatal Friday night shooting. Officers responded to the neighborhood of Genesee and Ivy Streets just before 9 o'clock with reports that a victim had been hit with gunfire. A  man was found to be wounded. The victim later died from those injuries.

Late Saturday, authorities identified the victim as Mario Hayes, 41, of Buffalo.

This is the ninth homicide in Buffalo since the beginning of the year.

On Saturday, a local church staged a unity walk against gun violence in the city.

Pastor Edward Jackson Jr. of the Friendship Baptist Church said people should not sit "idly" while their community is "tormented by senseless acts of violence."
