Buffalo Niagara International Airport has earned some high praise. In a study done by J.D. Powers and Associates, Buffalo was ranked as the second-best medium-sized airport in North America. The study tallied a total of 38,000 responses from North American travelers. Customer satisfaction was one of the biggest factors for Buffalo’s high ranking.
“Their [travelers'] satisfaction obviously ranks very, very high. We were up against 25, 30, 40 airports in North America that are similar in size,” said NFTA Director of Aviation William Vanecek. I would say they are very, very satisfied, that they like it, that they enjoy the experience they have when they use the Buffalo airport.”
Convenience also led to high approval. Customers said they want an airport that offers ease of parking and going through security, as well as scheduling.
“One of the things we pride ourselves at the Buffalo airport is creating an environment that makes it very easy for people to get into and out of our airport. One of our catch phrases is faster, better, cheaper,” Vanecek said.
With winter weather now in full effect, Buffalo’s ability to adjust to the conditions is another reason it is considered one of the best in the nation.
“We know how to handle the big storms. That’s I think puts us at a big advantage,” added Vanecek. “In particular, we deal with it regularly and we’re not afraid of dealing with snow. We know how to do it, we know how to clean it quickly and efficiently and we have really a stellar record when it comes to airport closures. We hardly ever close.”
