Snow continues to blanket all of Western New York, as a Winter Weather Advisory covers Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties into early afternoon. The precipitation will begin to change over to rain for the latter part of the day, and as National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Hibbert states, this could create some dangerous travel conditions.
"As the weather turns over from snow to rain, we'll probably see some areas of dense fog, and also, the rain falling on snowy roads could be beyond slippery. It will be a veritable skating rink of slipperiness."
This evening and overnight, rain, freezing rain and potentially dense fog will follow daytime accumulations of up to 3 - 4 inches of snow.
Hibbert states that some relief from the persistent precipitation will come mid-week before additional snowfalls come our way again for the holiday weekend.
