Buffalo's Common Council seems ready to approve Lloyd Taco Factory's new location on Elmwood Avenue after the restaurant addresses reservations voiced by the city's Planning Board. Lloyd is planning a new 2,800-square-foot building at 502 Elmwood, between West Utica and Hodge. It would complement Lloyd's original location on Hertel Avenue.
"We want to transfer our existing truck commissary into a full restaurant, similar in kind to what we did on Hertel, with a full bar and courtyard patio," said Lloyd Co-founder Peter Cimino. "We're looking to demolish a residential garage on the property and erect a new structure for additional space."
Cimino said operations will not change the neighborhood "very much" because the restaurant currently is operating at the location.
Architect Candice Urban-Green said the Planning Board Monday expressed reservations about the large Lloyd graphic that would wrap around the restaurant - that it would not conform to neighborhood standards.
There also was concern about the patio, but Urban-Green said the restaurant would agree to a one-year probationary period, during which any complaints lodged would be addressed before the patio becomes permanent.
