An Erie County Sheriff's Deputy is behind bars for allegedly smuggling drugs into the Holding Center in downtown Buffalo. Sheriff Tim Howard says Adam Fiegl was arrested on Monday after he reported for work in the Holding Center.
"The continued investigation by our office, with the help of the District Attorney's Office, established that this employee had agreed to bring narcotics in to the jail for the benefit of at least one of our inmates," Howard said Tuesday.
During the execution of a search warrant, Howard says officers discovered that Fiegl, 32, was carrying about 20 Suboxone pills.
An Orchard Park resident, Fiegl is charged with three Class D felonies introducing contraband into a prison, criminal possession of a controlled substance and receiving a bribe.
The deputy has been suspended without pay pending further criminal proceedings.
