Tourism surging on Canadian side of the border

Fallsview Marriott website

The sagging Canadian dollar is apparently good for Canadian tourism as stronger currencies like the U.S. dollar let tourists get bargains in everything from hotel rooms to that new outlet mall in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

For Niagara Falls, Ontario hotels lots of Americans are showing up on the advance reservations. Anthony Annunziata is marketing vice president for Canadian Niagara Hotels.

"Business looks great. We're up from last year, pretty significantly, and last year was a banner year," Annunziata said.

"We're talking a scenario where people are now booking quite far in advance now. So, our June, July, August business is quite significant increases on that and more people are booking in advance."

In the Niagara Falls tourism picture, Canadian Niagara Hotels is a major player, with four-thousand rooms in nine-hotels, especially the massive Marriott Fallsview and Sheraton Fallsview.
