Saturday night shootings leave one teen girl dead, another in serious condition

A teenage girl is dead, and another one in serious condition after two separate shooting incidents in Buffalo Saturday.

A 17-year-old female from Cheektowaga and a 20-year-old male from Buffalo were hit by gunfire shortly after 11 p.m. on Glendale Avenue near the Canisius College campus. Both were taken to the Erie County Medical Center. The male was treated for injuries. The female  is listed in serious condition.

Buffalo police detectives are investigating if some type of dispute or fight occurred during a large party at a residence on Glendale.

Canisius authorities are cautioning students to beware of their surroundings and not to walk alone.

Earlier in the night, two teens -- one a 16-year-old male and the other a 15-year-old female, both from Buffalo -- were shot in a drive-by incident on LaSalle Avenue. They, too, were taken to ECMC. The female victim died at the hospital a short time later. The male was treated and released.

Police are asking anyone with information on either shooting to call or text the confidential TIPCALL line at (716) 847-2255.
