City Hall to lend a helping hand to women and minority-owned businesses

City of Buffalo

Small companies owned by women and minorities will soon be able to find help bringing their dreams to life. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says, after assessing the needs of entrepreneurs, and the existing business community, the city is pushing ahead with opening the Beverly Gray Business Exchange Center.

"And we have a national consultant that has developed a business plan for us to operate this center, to make sure that it works, and it does all of the things that we believe it can do, to continue to grow small business in the city of Buffalo, and in particular minority and women-owned business," Brown said.

The Business Center will be located inside the former North Jefferson Library on East Utica. Brown says, it should open by fall. The city invested $2.3 million renovating the building. And Brown is he's seeking $250,000 from the Erie County IDA to fund the operation.
