State support expected to boost Lockport company

Moley Magnetics

The state is helping a local company grow and bring jobs back to the United States. The Cuomo administration announced Moley Magnetics of Lockport will receive $900,000 in tax credits.

As part of the deal, the company will create more than 40 manufacturing jobs over the next four years. Moley Magnetics co-owner Ron Slaby says state help is important because it's difficult to attract skilled labor.

"There's such a focus on pushing people towards college. And we're not taking people who perhaps shouldn't be going to college, and should be going to trades, because that's what they can excel in or enjoy. This perhaps will allow more people to focus on those types of careers because they're still needed here," Slaby explained.

The incentives, according to Slaby, will also make it possible for Moley to retain 20 existing employees and expand its facility for the new production line. The company has been importing its heavy duty construction products from Italy.
