The Western New York region is under a Winter Storm Warning until 7 p.m. Tuesday. An additional 6 to 12 inches is expected through early evening for storm totals of 8 to 16 inches.
"We have widespread, moderate snow across Western New York," said National Weather Service Meteorologist John Hitchcock.
The heavy snow fall is making travel difficult. Commute times taking much longer than normal Tuesday morning. The snowfall has left streets across the city of Buffalo and roadways are across the region snow covered and slick in spots.
Traffic is well-below speed. The trip along main thoroughfares in Buffalo, like Delaware and Elmwood Avenues is very slow and snow covered. Intersections are slick.
Snow is expected to continue this afternoon and could be heavy at times. Additional snow and sleet accumulations of 6 to 11 inches is possible.
