Red Cross assists victims of a North Tonawanda residential fire

Six people are receiving help from the Red Cross after a Saturday morning fire in North Tonawanda damaged their home.

The fire began around 8:30 Saturday morning in the basement of a home on 7th Avenue. Firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to the rest of the residence however heavy smoke traveled throughout the entire home.

Crews say no one was hurt or injured and there was no major damage to the property. The Red Cross is assisting the four adults and two children. The cost of damage to the home is still being determined. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
