U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand made a brief stop at the Buffalo City Mission to help serve lunch to a few dozen men on Friday.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Gillibrand said the men include veterans who served their country. So she says the least she can do is give a little back.
"Everyone who works here does this full-time and dedicates their life to serving others. And it's quite a testament to the region and to their faith, and I'm just grateful that I get to help," Gillibrand said.
A Hudson Valley Democrat, Gillibrand also said, that she thinks it's important during the holidays to remember those who are less fortunate.
Along with feeding the hungry, the Buffalo City Mission also provides temporary housing, and job training for the thousands of homeless people across the region.
