Whalen to head tourism effort in Niagara Falls

The former chief operating officer of the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus is now working to boost Niagara Falls. The Niagara Global Tourism Institute has tapped Patrick Whalen as its interim director.

Whalen says his duties include getting all sides working together to make Niagara Falls a better product for visitors.

"If we can get more people to come to Niagara Falls, and we can get  them to stay longer, I think we're going to create a lot of jobs," Whalen told WBFO.

Compared to his new role and what he helped to accomplish with the Medical Campus, Whalen says he sees a lot of similarities. He says one way to boost tourism is to offer more year-round attractions in Niagara Falls.
