An investigation is underway to determine why a vehicle was traveling the wrong way on Toronto's Gardiner Expressway on Saturday night, causing a pileup involving at least six vehicles.

The crash took place in the westbound lanes between Kipling and Islington Avenues. One vehicle ended up on its roof. Several people had to be freed from their smashed vehicles. Paramedics said three people were sent to hospital and one of them suffered serious injuries.
