A Cheektowaga intersection linked to the recent deaths of two teenagers is getting an overhaul. The New York state Department of Transportation plans to make several safety improvements at Walden Avenue and Harlem Road.
Leonard Luh, the uncle of the late Chelsea Chandler, lives nearby. Luh says, the best change will be eliminating "Right on Red."
"There's many times people don't stop. Wait a second, they'll just zoom right through it. This is definitely going to be a positive impact to this whole area," Luh said.
Other safety improvements include the installation of audible crosswalk signals, lowering the speed limit on Walden Avenue near Harlem and realigning the crosswalks so they're more visible to motorists.
