Plane makes emergency landing in Buffalo

No injuries were reported as an Alaskan Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Buffalo Niagara International Airport this morning. A fire emerged from a credit card reader bringing smoke into the plane's cabin area. Crew members were able to extinguish the fire.

NFTA spokesman Doug Hartmayer said that all passengers were able to safely exit the plane and will remain in Buffalo until the airline determines its next course of action.

Following an investigation, it's possible the plane could be certified as "flight ready," Hartmayer said. The airline could also send another plane to carry passengers to their scheduled destination of Seattle.
