Twitter

Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane, a native of South Buffalo, is reportedly under investigation in Hamburg. The Buffalo News, citing sources, is reporting Kane is the subject of a rape investigation stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred last weekend. Neither Hamburg Police not the Erie County District Attorney's Office is commenting at this time. Both say they will neither confirm nor deny an investigation is taking place. Kane has not been charged at this point. The 26-year-old has a house in Hamburg and was expected to be in the area this week to celebrate his team's Stanley Cup victory.

The NHL and the Blackhawks said Thursday they are aware of the situation and are following developments.

Kane, the number one overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, has won three Stanley Cup with Chicago and has represented the U.S. in two Olympics.

The  26-year-old was arrested in Buffalo in 2009 for allegedly punching a taxi cab driver. He and a cousin pled guilty to lesser charges after being indicted for misdemeanor assault.
