The 17th Annual Cycle the Erie Canal tour began this morning. More than 600 bicyclists are riding the 400 mile Canalway Trail from Buffalo to Albany. The group departed from the area this morning at 8 o'clock and will plan to end the first day's ride in the Orleans County town of Medina. The ride will reach its conclusion on July 19th. Cyclists from 36 states and as far away as Australia have joined the effort.

The ride is organized by the nonprofit Parks & Trails New York, and it is intended to bring attention to the economic contributions the trail makes to the state.

Saturday & Sunday 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
