Buffalo's redevelopment is spreading beyond the waterfront and the medical campus. The corner of Main Street and West Ferry has been transformed from a blighted eyesore into Fenton Village, a 33-unit luxury apartment complex.
Developer Nick Sinatra says the $5 million project included restoring the four-story building's original hardwood floors and old windows.
"Which are phenomenal. They're eight feet tall windows and we were able to restore the original frames and then put in replacement...glass that made it energy efficient and, at the same time, restores the beauty of it. That's the showcase. When you walk in, the windows just smack you in the face. It's really neat and historic," Sinatra said.
The Fenton was built as a hotel for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition.
"It's got great bones. We immediately recognized that and it took quite an investment, but ultimately the market responded and it's been very successful for us," noted Sinatra.
Sinatra says the complex is 100 percent occupied.
