Play ball! What to expect from the Bisons in 2015

Courtesy of Ben Wagner, the "Voice of the Bisons"

It's opening day at the ballpark as The Buffalo Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings at Coca Cola Field Thursday afternoon.

There are a few changes in store this year with the addition of some new food and new seatingat the ball park and some new rules aimed at shortening games. Fans will also see a few familiar faces on the field.

One of those faces today will be Rex Ryan. The new head coach of the Buffalo Bills will be on hand to throw out the first pitch.

The WBFO Morning Edition host Jay Moran spoke with the "Voice of the Bisons" Ben Wagner about what to expect this season.

The Bisons are the AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays and currently play in the International League.

Game time is 2:05 p.m.

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Jay joined Buffalo Toronto Public Media in 2008 and has been local host for NPR's "Morning Edition" ever since. In June, 2022, he was named one of the co-hosts of WBFO's "Buffalo, What's Next."

A graduate of St. Mary's of the Lake School, St. Francis High School and Buffalo State College, Jay has worked most of his professional career in Buffalo. Outside of public media, he continues in longstanding roles as the public address announcer for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and as play-by-play voice of Canisius College basketball.
