Catholic Charities of Buffalo is asking for the community's continued support. The 91st annual Appeal is running slightly behind, compared to last year's campaign. Bishop Richard Malone says to date, the Appeal has raised just over $8.5 million, which is about 78% of the goal. But the Bishop says he is confident the goal will be met.
"Coming here from New England, not to make comparisons, but the generosity of Western New Yorkers, even when we've had our own economic struggles for years, is to me, remarkable. The people will come through. They see the need. And Catholic Charities is a good way to be able to reach out."
Malone says donations will allow Catholic Charities to continue to impact the lives of 142,000 Western New Yorkers, Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
This year's Appeal runs through June 30 and has a $10.9 million goal.
