Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set for Buffalo filming

When do talking turtles produce big bucks? The answer: when scenes from the sequel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are shot in Buffalo. That's exactly what will happen later this spring. Most of the film will be shot in New York City. State officials say New York's film production tax credit program helped snare the project. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown responded to the news. He said it will have a big local economic.

"We anticipate filing in May. " It will have a tremendous economic impact on the community, probably in the millions of dollars," said Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

The mayor also noted that a film shoot in Buffalo creates some jobs. "I think there will certainly be jobs beyond extras, that's the good news about a production like this coming to our community," said Brown.

The state has yet to release a preliminary estimate on how much in tax credits the film will receive. Brown said he looks forward to seeing his city on the big screen.

In February, the mayor and Buffalo Niagara Film Commission announced an enhanced effort in luring film, television and post-production to the Queen City.  The city issued requests for proposals (RFP) to hire a qualified consulting team to help grow that market.
