Green was the dominant color Sunday, as the annual Saint Patrick's parade marched up Delaware Avenue, complete with Irish dancers, Irish setters and those who claimed to be Irish for the day.
Again this year, it was the Buffalo City Guard, the Gordon Highlanders leading off the show, flags flying, kilts in rhythm and the pipes and drums sounding.
From the crowds in Niagara Square to North Street, the parade route was packed.
Denice Morrison was there, with the sash of the parade grand marshal.
"I've been on the committee now for about six or seven years. I've been helping out for almost 20," Morrison said.
"You pay your dues and your peers elect you. So, I've been honored that I've got elected and it's my turn."
Morrison is the first woman grand marshal since 2004. Her husband John was grand marshal in 2007.
The parade drew every walk of life, from elected officials to the building trades who are having an exciting year with towering cranes not far from the parade route.
Buffalo police estimate the crowd totaled 80,000 people. Authorities report no major incidents. Police did issue nearly 100 summons for open container violations and made approximately 10 arrests for disorderly conduct incidents.
