More relentless wintry weather headed to region

WBFO News file photo

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory. It will be posted from noon Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday for Western New York.

A wintry blast is due into the region around noon Tuesday. Snow will develop in the early afternoon then change into freezing rain and sleet by late Tuesday afternoon before changing to rain.

The mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet will make driving difficult with visibility down to less than a mile at times. Another one to two inches of snow is expected. A tenth of an inch of ice is also expected to accumulate.

Snow changing to a wintry mix could create very slippery conditions on untreated roads, sidewalks and parking lots.  Roads are expected to be very slushy and slippery for the Tuesday evening commute.
