A man has been convicted in a Rochester cold case that went unsolved for 13 years. Mario Alverado Mateo was found guilty of rape and sodomy in an attack on a Rochester woman in 2000. DNA evidence matched the 36-year-old Mateo to the case in 2012. The conviction came on Friday. Mateo faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced in February.
The DNA match was made while he was in prison on a burglary charge.
