A happy Governor Cuomo celebrated his primary election victory during a rally yesterday in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. He reminded supporters that the race is a marathon and is not over until November.
"I am happy, happy, happy. Where I come from you win with 60 percent (of the vote), you say one thing, 'thank you very much.'"
The Cuomo campaign turned out a crowd of supporters, candidates and many people holding appointed government jobs for the late Wednesday afternoon rally. Both he and lieutenant governor candidate Kathy Hochul were clearly energized by the victory, even if challenger Zephyr Teachout pulled in around one-third of the slim voter turnout.
The governor never mentioned Republican Rob Astorino by name but attacked him nonetheless on a number of issues: gay marriage, women's equality and the Buffalo Billion.
"You hear these guys saying that I'm not a liberal," Cuomo told the crowd.
"We're governed Albany in basically a non-partisan, bi-partisan basis. How did we get four budgets done in a row, first time in 40 years?"
Speaking to reporters, Cuomo made it clear he's running on his record saying he's a pragmatic politician who gets things done.
