Police in the Village of Hamburg have charged district Superintendent Dr. Richard Jetter with falsely reporting an incident for a situation involving his damaged vehicle. Jetter filed a damage report in May, saying his car was vandalized while he attended a school board meeting. He also said a threatening note was placed on his windshield.
Jetter was placed on administrative leave Wednesday when board members learned he was under investigation. He has reportedly checked in to BryLin Hospital.
The Buffalo News has obtained a handwritten note Jetter gave to police where he admits to drinking the previous night and says he struck a telephone pole in South Buffalo.
The superintendent said he had taken a walk to minimize the effect of the alcohol he consumed. He drove the vehicle to work on May 6 and said no one noticed the damage until that night's school board meeting.
Jetter will be in town court next month to answer the charge. The misdemeanor carries a sentence of up to a year in jail, if convicted.
