Governor Cuomo made news on several fronts during his visit to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo last week. Sparking the most speculation were his thoughts regarding the possibility of a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills. "I think he's being very realistic," said Jim Fink of Business First during WBFO's Press Pass.
Some believe more modifications could bring Ralph Wilson Stadium up to current NFL standards.
"Kansas City basically rebuilt Arrowhead Stadium. Arrowhead and the Ralph were built around the same time. The Bears basically rebuilt Soldier Field," Fink siad.
There was more to the governor's visit to Roswell Park than his thoughts on stadiums.
"Roswell officially got another five-year accreditation with the National Cancer Institute," Fink said. "There is a lot of positive ripple effects that come from that."
Fink also pointed to the significance of this week's series of meetings seeking public input on Outer Harbor development. Do these meetings make a difference?
"Sometimes they do," Fink replied.
"The public input was clearly in place with what has happened at Canalside when people basically said, 'We don't want Bass Pro.'"
Fink was also intrigued by the revelation that Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula had retained investment banker Steve Greenberg to examine a possible purchase of the Buffalo Bills.
"The speculation about the Pegulas interest in the Buffalo Bills has been ratcheted up a few extra notches," Fink said.
But, he notes that several other prospective buyers are reviewing the NFL team's financial statements as they determine a possible asking price.
"Remember as I've said all along, this is a process."
