Record set at Buffalo Marathon

A Kenyan native who resides in Rochester ran at an unprecedented pace in Sunday's Buffalo Marathon.

With a time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 16 seconds, Kiplingat Tisia outpaced his closest competitor by nearly four minutes.

The new event record comes with a $1,000 bonus, in addition to the $2,000 prize money provided to the winners of the men's and women's races.

Waynishet Abibe of Ethiopia took first place in the women's division. With a time of 2 hours, 55 minutes and 8 seconds, Abibe was the only woman who finished the course in under three hours.
