A search is underway in Lake Ontario for a boater who was reported missing Thursday morning.
John Suppel, 60, of Lewiston was last seen Wednesday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m., before leaving on a 16-foot camouflage colored boat at the Tuscarora State Park.
He was reported overdue for his return Thursday morning at 9:45 a.m. His car and boat trailer were found by sheriff's deputies in a parking lot near the boat launch.
Both the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard have joined crews from the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, volunteers from the Wilson and Olcott Volunteer Fire Departments, and Toronto Marine Patrol in searching for Suppel and his boat.
