A special ceremony will be held this morning to honor a local World War II veteran for his service. Private First Class William H. Givens, Jr. served with the Marine Corps out of Camp Montford Point. He was among the first African-Americans to enlist in the Marine Corps after the branch was desegregated.
Congressman Brian Higgins will present the Givens family the Congressional Medal of Honor is a ceremony this morning.
This is the highest civilian award given by Congress.
