Snowfall totals in the Western New York region have been above average for the winter season thus far, but Buffalo is finding itself way ahead of other major cities. The National Weather Service has measured nearly 91 inches of snow for the season in Buffalo. That is approximately 25 inches above normal for this time of year. Erie, Pennsylvania, however, has recorded more than 100 inches of the white stuff. So far, this season ranks as Buffalo's 9th snowiest in recorded history.

January temperatures also measured 5 degrees below normal, lending to a very cold winter.
