Frosty grip: Winter Weather Advisory

WBFO News photos by Eileen Buckley

There's a winter weather advisory across the Western New York Region.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Bob Hamilton tells WBFO News over the past week - some areas in the Snow Belt south of Buffalo have picked up four-to-six-feet of lake effect snow.

"This is very typical for Buffalo. We've been spoiled the past couple of years with general mild and brown winters, but the big snowfall is usually late November and December, so climatology right on schedule," said Hamilton.

The lake effect machine will be replaced by a general snowfall.  A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of Western New York all day Saturday through 6am Sunday.  Forecasters expect four to six inches of new accumulation.

It's also going to remain cold.

"The temperature is going to be about 15-degrees below normal, with day-time high below normal," said Hamilton.
