South Buffalo author Mike Maccalupo releases new work

mjmaccalupo.com

Mike Maccalupo has written several novels about growing up in his native South Buffalo. Now, in what he calls "a departure," Maccalupo has released "The Almost Definitive Collection- Volume One," a work comprised of a short story, essay , poetry and a three-act play.

In conversation with WBFO's Mike Desmond, Maccalupo says the work was intended to be a novel.

The writing process instead produced the short story "The Umbrella," a work the author calls "a kind of macabre story."

Maccalupo also discusses how he develops his stories and his plans for his next novel, "The Allentown Murders."

Mike Desmond is one of Western New York’s most experienced reporters, having spent nearly a half-century covering the region for newspapers, television stations and public radio.
