About three dozen sign-carrying protesters chanting "No More War" held a noon-time rally Monday in downtown Buffalo outside the federal courthouse.
Nate Buckley says the U.S. has no right to invade Syria.
"These politicians, they lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, and people know it. If we lived in a democracy where only nine percent of people support an intervention, then you shouldn't go into something. That's not a democracy/ That becomes a dictatorship," Buckley said.
Buckley says with the nation's roads, education system and healthcare failing, the U.S. should not be spending more money on war.
Also among those opposed to the U.S. taking military action was Richard of Buffalo.
"I'm just so tired of all these wars. During the Bush administration, we had three of them. When you think back, what good did it do? It caused a lot of grief, we bombed Baghdad and ruined the city, and now we're hearing about the same thing. I'm very disappointed in President Obama," he said.
Richard says different factions in Syria are fighting a civil war and the U.S. should stay out of it.
More war protests are scheduled for tonight. Vigils opposing military action in Syria are being held in Gratwick Park in North Tonawanda and at the Village Gazebo in North Collins. Both events run from 7-9 p.m.
