Chautauqua Countyhealth officials are warning outdoor enthusiasts about dangerously infected mosquitoes in the area. Testing at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary has shown mosquitoes to be carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis, or EEE. This is the first appearance of the virus in Western New York. Infected mosquitoes are not feeding on humans or other mammals, but aerial spraying will take place Sunday evening around 7 to battle the insects.
Area residents are advised to remain inside for at least an hour after the spraying.
