Heavy rains and strong winds overnight have caused downed trees and power lines as well as isolated instances of flooding. National Grid reports that Northern Erie and Niagara Counties were especially hard hit with power outages, with as more than 36,000 customers in the dark for at least part of the night. Most customers were expected have power restored in the early hours this morning, though some households could be without power into the afternoon hours.

The rains also brought another round of July flooding to Lockport. Heavy rains and downed power lines caused the partial closing of routes 265 and 270 in that area. Those roads have since re-opened.

The rains also brought an early end to the Tragically Hip show at Buffalo's Outer Harbor Friday night with a re-scheduled date to be announced.

The campus at Niagara County Community College will be closed Saturday due to a lack of power.
